One of the influencing factors of a quality life is physical activity. “Movement is not only a manifestation of life but also a carrier of information about the processes in the internal environment, not only about the state of internal organs but primarily about the state of the mind.“ (Hátlová, B. in Hošek, V. et al., Sport and Quality of Life, 2002)
Physical activity for seniors is important for several proven reasons. Firstly, it contributes to better health, and secondly, it improves an individual’s mental well-being. Among other things, movement has a calming effect, relieves stress, strengthens muscles, and increases lung and heart capacity. It thus mitigates health complications and the onset of some serious diseases. Physically active seniors remain independent and self-sufficient for longer periods.
A healthy mind in a healthy body. Mental disposition is also linked to physical health. Therefore, there is a higher likelihood that an active senior experiences many more joyful moments, which can be enjoyed through activities with grandchildren, gardening, or nature walks.
The goal of this project is to give seniors the opportunity to live actively every day and maintain their physical fitness.
Health is undoubtedly one of the main values of a senior’s quality of life. However, health is closely linked to a healthy lifestyle, which is influenced by both individuals and society as a whole. Besides a proper diet and physical activity, mental activity is also essential. Engaging in cultural life is an integral part of a quality life for seniors.
The significance of culture in a senior’s life can be understood on several levels. In addition to developing and understanding creativity, ethics, aesthetics, and intellect, culture also provides other “qualities,” such as relaxation and anti-stress functions. Culture can undoubtedly serve as a tool for quality intergenerational communication.
Within this project, we wish to support the cultural life of seniors and their participation in cultural activities – whether it is supporting senior clubs, senior theaters, dances for seniors, or educational trips.
